The Yakutat Tern Festival Annual Art contest is an opportunity for artists and graphic designers to showcase their talents. We encourage participants to draw artistic inspiration from Yakutat’s unique scenery, wildlife, and culture for their art piece.
The YNS will choose the submission which we feel is the best representation for the current year’s festival. The winning artist will receive a $100 prize and see their art featured on Tern Festival merchandise, including tee shirts and posters.

Your photo submission MUST have been taken in Yakutat.
Submit your photos to yakutatnaturesociety@gmail.com before the 5/30/25. Visitors are still able to enter after arrival, with the understanding that voting will already be under way. (please limit submissions to 3/person)
Show up in person to Tern Fest to view qualified submissions and submit a ballot for your favorite photos! (You can vote for yourself… We won’t tell).
The submissions which receive the most votes will be declared first, second, and third place respectively.
Winners will be announced at the end of the festival
