What is the Wildman Race?

The Wildman Race is a fun, inclusive foot- and bike-race event held annually as part of the Yakutat Tern Festival. Whether you run, walk, or ride — it’s all about enjoying Yakutat’s stunning scenery and community spirit at your own pace.

The course varies from year to year but generally covers a 5 km to 10 km (approx. 3.1–6.2 miles) route, making it accessible to both serious runners and those just looking to enjoy a leisurely ride or walk. Bikers are absolutely welcome!

Where & When

  • Start Location: Typically begins at the local school in Yakutat

  • Finish Location: Sandy Beach (or another scenic endpoint depending on the route) 

  • Date: Sunday of Tern Festival (final day) — check the current year’s festival schedule for exact date and start time.

  • Registration: Please arrive 30 minutes before the start time to check in. Registration fees may appl
